Cornerstone exists because of Jesus. We are a people who have been transformed by the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ. Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, God has forgiven us and adopted us into his family. Now, we have a whole new life.
Through the gospel, God redeems us, forgives us, and adopts us into his family. The good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection makes each one of us a new creation and gives us a new identity: children of God. This is why we can never think of the church as an organization or a building. The church is actually a family—God’s family, filled with redeemed sinners that are now his children.
Through the gospel, God forgives us, adopts us into his family, and makes us his disciples. This means that the church is not just any family. We are a family formed by God—and sent out with a purpose.
The church is a family that ministers to one another, cares for one another, and builds one another up. Each member of the family is a child of God who is uniquely gifted to bless the family and to be a light in our city.
Just like a vine grows best with a good trellis, our church family grows best with good programs. Our programs and ministries are tailored to support the community and mission God has given us.
"Let your steadfast love come to me, O LORD, your salvation according to your promise" –Psalm 119:41 ESV
The goal of Children’s Church at Cornerstone is to raise up young men and women to be men and women of God who understand what it means to be a part of the church, and deeply understand the Word of God and its implications for their lives.
We long to see 5-year-old - 2nd graders who deeply grasp God’s Word by walking story by story through the Bible, and who understand the implications of God’s Word for their lives.
Children’s Church is available for students who are 5-years-old through 2nd grade.
Children’s Church students accompany their parents to the main service for welcome, songs, Communion, the greeting, God’s Activity, and the pastoral prayer, and then are dismissed to their teachers at the end of the pastoral prayer.
Once dismissed, Children’s Church students are given a short time to play in the gym or in the back green space.
After this play time, students are brought into the Sparks Room (C8), given some water, and study the Bible story of the day from The Gospel Project.
Students here will be challenged to think deeply about the meaning of the story, and how the story is relevant for their life, using questions and illustrations. Then students will be given the opportunity to color a coloring page corresponding to the story.
The Gospel Project curriculum is designed to show the centrality of Jesus throughout the entirety of the Bible, and gives illustrations and games that allow the meaning of the passage to come to life for the children.
Our Children’s Church teachers are trained, godly men and women who are Servant Ministers at Cornerstone.
