“Everyone works, and everyone needs the gospel to flourish at work.”

May 13, 2018

One of the biggest areas of calling in human life is work. Everyone is called to work, and that work can take different shapes and sizes. But along the way, everyone experiences the difficulties of work in a fallen world. The gospel of Jesus Christ allows us to approach our work in a new way, not making it into an idol or enduring it as an inconvenience. The gospel allows us to serve Jesus in our work, which leads us to want to be sincere, excellent, and loving wherever God places us.

Application Questions

  1. Think of your work as whatever you spend the majority of your time doing during the week. What do you enjoy about it? What do you find challenging about it?
  2. How do you view your work as an idol? How do you view your work as an inconvenience?
  3. How would your work change if you worked “from the soul” because of the gospel?
  4. How can you practically apply something from this sermon to your work this week?
